Tilen Sepič: Clouds

 

The artist will install a series of objects emitting soft diffuse light at two locations in the centre of Ljubljana, at Vodnik Manor House and in Španski Borci Cultural Centre. The objects are artificial clouds with the texture and structure reminding of their models that can be observed in the sky. They are made of commonplace materials and placed in a new environmental context of cityscape; they show as poetic and magical interventions inspiring reflection about the elimination – or equalisation – of differences between the artificial and the natural, as well as about the consequences caused by such simulacra in the natural habitat. The installation in front of the Vodnik Manor House will also include a soundscape created by Hanna Preuss especially for the occasion. The clouds were created at the workshops in the International Centre of Graphic Arts and at the Red Beats! Festival in Hrastnik.

 

Tilen Sepič is an interdisciplinary and multi-media artist working in the spheres of industrial design, interactive studio photography and lighting design. He is a cofounder of the Creative Zone Šiška, the Rompom group and the Muslauf association, and he also collaborates with the experimental electronic group Theremidi Orchestra. In the past years he has been primarily engaged in the design of unique lights, and he also devised several interactive audio-visual installations. His internet blogs and galleries contain original commentaries analysing a viral behaviour of artistic contents on the Web. Since 2006 he has received numerous awards in the sphere of design.
