SARAH RECHBERGER: Planetary Sentience

SARAH RECHBERGER: Planetary Sentience
Light installation
The Match Gallery // until 1 September
OPENING: Friday, 24 May, 9:30 p.m.

With the spatial light installation, the author introduces the concept of planetary intelligence as a pendant of artificial intelligence, which has recently achieved an unimaginable development. The futuristic work with a distinctly speculative nature presupposes that the planetary intelligence of the earth in contact with artificial intelligence triggers the transformation of electrical and transport networks on the planet. This transformation activates a chain reaction that affects further evolution; it appears as if the earth was starting to fulfil its dreams by adopting and using our technology. In the gallery space, a hybrid fantasy world is germinating, inhabited by mechanical organisms and simple life forms with its awakened consciousness and its own reproductive capabilities, the planet activates the process of a profound transformation of nature and thus life on its face.
