Kasia Kania: Topographies of Care. Grief and Companionship
Kasia Kania: Topographies of Care. Grief and Companionship
dance performance & video projection
Gradaščica Park, under the Barje Bridge
Saturday, 30 May 2026, at 10 p.m.
In the shelter of the Barje Bridge, alongside Polish NOKS collective’s curated selection of video works (see page 21), a dance performance of their fellow countrywoman, Kasia Kania, shall take place. On this occasion, she will also present one of her latest video works to the audience. In terms of the content, the performance fits well into the selection of the video works, with which it enters into an interesting and fruitful dialogue: the whole is conceived as a performative or visual study of comradeship and co-existence, as well as the exploration of empathy in a time of extreme individualism and general uncertainty here and now. The performative project entitled Topographies of Care thus offers a meditative and multifaceted choreographic experience, which by highlighting gracefulness and sensuality, enables reflection on mutual support and compassion in the modern times.
KASIA KANIA is an independent choreographer and performer, focusing on theory and practice of the so-called ‘extended’ choreography, that is, strategies for observing and shaping movement and interpersonal relationships that deepen our understanding of the world. She received her academic education at various institutions in Poland and Germany.
The project was funded by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage within the framework of the ReSide programme of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
