Matej Bizovičar: Black Cube Capsules

light installation
Vžigalica Gallery (Match Gallery); until 23 August
OPENING: Tuesday, 26 May 2026, at 9:30 p.m.

The new stage of Matej Bizovičar’s project with the umbrella title Capsules brings a series of light objects which, glowing under the UV light, with their intense colours tones and pronounced materiality, create fantastic visual scenes. The outer shells of these peculiar ‘organisms’ function as membranes that protect the interior, where a space and artistic syntax independent of them take shape: the author’s explorations stem from experimenting with the artistic nature of space and its perception. The objects originate from binary dichotomies between the internal and the external, the visible and the invisible … According to the author, the Black Cube Capsules project addresses the metaphorical or artistic relationship between space, object and content; as such, it primarily allows the viewer a unique introspection, whilst its artistic nature becomes an autonomous carrier of symbolic narrative.
