::vtol::: There Is a Chance
sound-light installation
The Match Gallery // until 24 August
OPENING: Friday, 23 May, at 9:30 p.m.

The kinetic-light installation is formed by a unique system for the transmission of light signals, determined by numerous disturbances and, consequently, also by the extremely low, but by no means null, possibility of delivering a message that is symbolically enacted as a light signal. At the centre of the installation is a set of rotating mirrors into which a beam of light is directed – on the rare occasions when the positions of mirrors align and match, the light reflects through several mirrors at once, thus reaching the sensors that trigger the computer-generated sound composition. The sound that reaches the viewer’s ears is thus made flexible by wandering rays of light that have overcome all obstacles on the way to their destination. The project reveals a meditative light or sound constellation, resulting from endless attempts to overcome disturbances or communication interruptions. The final image is also influenced by the visitor himself or herself, who influences the intensity of light by stepping closer to it.
