HENRIKE VON DEWITZ : Inter-Actions
video projections
French Revolution Square – walls of Križanke, Vegova Street 2, fountains in the Park Križanke (Zoisova Street), Foerster’s Garden // until 14 June
OPENING: Friday, 23 May, at 9:30 p.m.
A German artist, who regularly exhibits in Slovenia, shall be presenting three video works at the festival, in which she explores her own relationship to the world around her, especially towards nature, with the help of moving images. Her works are often a collage of various video recordings on a chosen topic, whereby the artist processes them in post-production in her characteristic way – her video images transform into abstracted, often surreal and dreamy passages, not lacking a unique sensitivity, in which the author’s tireless fascination with world resonates. At the Lighting Guerrilla Festival, she presents the video works entitled Eternal Light, a peculiar elegy about grave candles, as well as two other videos that thematise the lives of centipedes and jellyfish in a phantasmagoric way.
HENRIKE VON DEWITZ (Germany, 1981) is an anthropologist, documentary filmmaker and visual artist. She exhibited her video installations, documentary films and photography in festivals, museums, galleries and public spaces in various cities in Germany, France, Uruguay and Slovenia. She leads an international video art collective, directs documentary film cycles and works as a translator, German teacher and film festival selector.
