Mirje Park // until 20 June
OPENING: Tuesday, 26 May 2026, at 9:30 p.m.
The Mycelium Field is an international participatory project, dedicated to children and youth, who create diverse light installations from discarded materials in workshops. To date, more than ten schools from Slovenia, Sweden and Norway have joined the project. Some workshops were also held in elderly homes, where elementary school pupils created together with the older generation, adding an intergenerational dimension to the project, alongside the international one.
Participants drew their inspiration from the underground fungal network, which, in nature, connects organisms through intricate networks and facilitates the circulation of matter. Mycelium disintegrates organic material and returns it to the process of creating new life, thereby functioning as a natural system of transformation and recycling. The project translates this principle into the creative process: discarded objects acquire new shape, function and meaning, becoming the carriers of light. The installation grows with each new workshop and reflects processes of decomposition, transformation and regrowth. The Mycelium Field thus represents a living structure that emerges through collective work and the transformation of materials. /M. Bizovičar/
